In this moment, I said yes to playing. Jumping off the bed into the deep ocean below to fish for giant sea creatures holding our breath, it took considerable self restraint to not pick their noses and scour the grit out of the corner of their eyes. A true test of mothering stamina and courage, don't you think?

Parenting takes just those things--restraint, stamina and courage. It is good to play. That is one thing I am doing differently from my own childhood.
