and today...
::wildfire fighting (that spatula is a polaski, in case you didn't realize...)
Sometimes, in the midst of a particular moment, like sitting in this field today negotiating how long Saschy could wear the parachute filled backpack while riding the running bike before giving it back to Elliott who wanted it before the hill (she wanted to wear it to the top of the hill), I think about how easily this thing I'm doing could seem meaningless, trivial, ridiculous. Here I am, spending a quite long spell, talking about this with them. Not negotiating multi-million dollar business deals, not acquiring assets, not dismantling bombs, not performing life-saving heart transplant surgery. Yet...this moment today, this heated discussion about sheets pretending to be parachutes and the merits of bottom versus tops of hills, well, it did feel important. It does matter.
As I was getting grass-stained knees, rubbing backs and kissing necks, I had the picture of a hologram in my mind. This weeny part I'm playing contains the whole damn thing, the entire world sits right here inside this little piece we are living. The whole and the part are the same, somehow.
We may as well be negotiating world peace. Each part births the whole. I can give my whole to just this.

What a great day! Yes, it matters- the whole and all the parts. <3
