Right now, I am humming with happiness for...
::a breakfast of fermented millet bread with cinnamon and cardomon fresh from the oven, slathered in coconut oil and plum butter made from our plum tree and a smoothie of goat milk kefir, blueberries and strawberries from the freezer and homemade applesauce
::my sister, in all her radiance and for many reasons, one of which is her ability to transform this little home into a sacred space, decluttered and shimmering with little bits of beauty everywhere
::the pile of dirt in the backyard...it's such a happy thing to spend money on
::this great earth and all that it gives us, this season of exploding trees and gardens
::every irritation and annoyance that I feel and how it points me to stories I am telling myself which are stale and untrue, every time
Hello. Thought of you today with warmth in my heart. Wanted you to know.

mmmmm kefir!
i have been drinking kombucha my friend makes all week and wow, i'm so wanting to pick up more skills with fermenting foods....powerful immune builders and depression busters and body energizers...so needed with fall around the corner.
i am grateful for a dinner of all local sourced or homegrown food:
salmon caught a few miles east in the river, a sauce made from our own tomatoes, beet greens, beans, carrots, kale and garlic, tossed altogether and ladled over brown rice pasta (the one thing we bought pre-made), with homegrown cukes sliced on the side.
love the food putting by too...40 lbs of tomatoes to freeze this weekend :)

Hi Kimberley. I am so fortunate to have inspiring friends, like one woman who runs our buying club. She is a wealth of knowledge and turned me onto the coconut oil brilliance. It is SO delicious. The bread recipe is from Feeding the Whole Family by Cynthia Lair which I love!! So fun...would like to have you for tea to talk more about it! Love to you and your family.

your breakfast sounds divine. Where do you get your inspiration and ideas for meals for your family? I have never heard of coconut oil on toast-sounds amazing. I would love to get more adventurous in the kitchen.
